Voicing the challenges of ESP teaching: Lessons from ESP in non-English departments

چکیده

Along with the growing practice of teaching English for Specific Purposes (ESP) in non-English departments tertiary education, it is essential to investigate challenges faced by ESP teachers. It can be a basis proposing policies improvement practice. This study was driven fact that classes are allocated limited credit hours, and teachers generally General no experience training ESP. Thus, this attempted fundamental one state four private higher education institutions. The data qualitative were obtained through interviews five interview questions mainly concerned knowledgeability competence related subject-specific contexts, adequacy training, needs analysis, classroom condition. findings reveal evident encountered were: lacking knowledge on students’ field study, proper large classes, various learners’ competencies. suggest policymakers (stakeholders) should pay more attention teaching, especially departments, reforming policy order minimize problems improve teaching.
